Lady Gaga, Jesus and Homosexuality

I will readily admit, I am no fan of Lady Gaga.  I didn't even know what people were talking about when I first heard about her.

I do know that I find the song, "I was born this way" interesting at best, but offensive at its core.  Of course, it promotes homosexuality and encourages the acceptance of it owing to the fact that people are "born this way."

I haven't quite made up my mind on whether or not people are born gay or choose to be gay. To me, it really doesn't matter.

But to those who say they are born gay I would present what Jesus would say to you: "You must be born again."

People who use the excuse to be gay by saying they were born that way, especially those who claim to follow Jesus and remain gay, really have no excuse to keep on sinning.  For in the experience of true Christian regeneration, a person truly IS born again and takes on the character and nature of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:21 says "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."  He BECOMES our sin and we TAKE ON His righteousness.

If you are TRULY BORN AGAIN, any previous sin tendency, whether homosexuality, hatred, envy, gossip, or other wickedness and unrighteousness are simply done away with and you put on a NEW SELF.  If there is no change in behavior or desire, then MOST LIKELY, there was no change of heart and the person is still lost.

I don't say this make people mad.  I say this because there are some people who are making the excuse to continue to behave as homosexuals because they have bought into the lie of our culture that says, "I was born that way."

Again, Jesus says, "You must be born again."

Dear one of my two gay brothers-in-law,

Do you think by continually referring to yourself as my "gay brother-in-law" that you will embarrass me? You're wrong. You are only embarrassing yourself, but you apparently don't comprehend that. Actually, that's not quite right. You embarrass your whole family when you brag about your sin - but I know that is absolutely no concern of yours.

Perhaps you think that referring to yourself as one of my gay brothers-in-law that you're able to "get one over" on the preacher. Again, you just don't get it.

Why don't you sign the comment for what you really are?

I don't recall referring to you when I made this post. I didn't tag you in it; I didn't mention you.

Why do you feel you must make a drive-by on my blog? Are you crying out for help? or just attention?

In fact, I was giving you hope. Hope to be redeemed. Hope to be saved. Not just you, but anyone who is in bondage to sin. Any sin. Not just homosexuality.

Yet, again, you immediately reject the message.

One of these days, dear gay brother-in-law, it will be too late - and then where will you be?

There is one problem with your argument. If people are born as homosexuals that means they are acting naturally in engaging in homosexuality just as heterosexuals are engaging naturally in engaging in heterosexuality.

If a person is born homosexual that means God designed them that way. That's why religious people reject the idea because it opens a door that they do not want opened. Better to keep that door closed and stick to the high ground and make strong declarations.

I find it strange that people that are so steadfast in the homosexuality argument completely skip over the idea that shellfish eaters are not participating in equal abominations. But that's too ridiculous to believe even though it's right there in Leviticus with homosexuality. Truth is, people are just picking and choosing what they want to believe.

Leave judgment to God, I say. The homosexuals and shellfish eaters will have to account for themselves. It is not ours to judge their actions.

But don't underweight either of these sins if you are going to make your arguments from the Bible. It is very clear on both counts.

RA,

Thanks for dropping by and taking time to comment!

Two things:

1) It actually isn't MY argument that people are born homosexuals. I am simply trying to counter the homosexual's argument that, "hey, I'm BORN this way." My POINT, was, if that is what THEY say, then Jesus says, "You must be born again."

2) Homosexuality and shellfish are not the same kind of abomination. Let's take a look, shall we?

Leviticus 11:10 says, And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

Leviticus 18:22 says, You shall not lie with mankind as with womankind. It is abomination to God.

Do you see the difference? The dietary (Kosher) law given to the Jews prevented the eating of certain things to be an "abomination unto you." It is not repeated in the New Testament and even Peter had a vision where all things were given as "clean" to eat.

However, when God forbids men having sex with men (and the same for lesbianism) notice that it says it is an "abomination to God". This command is reinforced in the New Testament in several places. eg Romans 1.

So, one was an offense to Old Testament Jews and one was an offense to God.

You seem to assert that the "Bible is very clear on both accounts". Yes it is. It clearly tells Jews that they shouldn't eat pork or some scaleless/fin-less water creatures and it clearly tells humankind that homosexuality is an abomination to God.

You are correct when you say people are just picking and choosing what they want to believe. Unfortunately, it is either the casual Bible reader or perhaps those who have heard it from another, who have not properly studied the Scripture to see for themselves that these two abominations are indeed NOT equal abominations.

You say, "leave judgment to God". I couldn't agree more. However, when you are pulled over by a policeman, you get a ticket. If you agree that you were in the wrong, you pay the ticket. If you believe you were not in the wrong, you go to court to see the judge. In this case, I am NOT the judge, but merely the one who points out the boundaries of the law.

Even wet-noodle, feel-good life-coach Joel Osteen got that right on Pierce Morgan...

Ahhh, OK. Yes, I know it is not your argument.

When you said you hadn't made up your mind yet about people being born gay, I was worried that you were actually becoming a little open-minded on the subject and might actually be considering the science of the whole thing.

RA,

I can't help detect thinly veiled sarcasm in your comment, insinuating that there is actually a "science of the whole thing."

The pseudo-scientific gene-research that homosexuals have latched on to give them excuse to continue sinful behavior is laughable at best; manipulative (i.e. bad science) at its essence.

The point I am making in the original post, is: So, you say you were born that way? That's not good enough. Jesus says "you must be born again."

I notice you didn't respond to the "shrimp is an abomination to man under Jewish kosher law"; and "homosexuality is an abomination to God universal truth" thing...you do see the difference, don't you?

Well, there is some science but they haven't figured everything out yet. There is some pretty good indication that developing fetuses receive an excess amount of estrogen or testosterone during a critical stage of development.

This can result in a female like k.d. Lang. She's obviously got some masculine characteristics and it came as no surprise to anyone when she announced she was gay. It would have been a surprise if she hadn't been.

Of course, you also have people that are born as both sexes so that presents a real moral dilemma.

As for the seafood bit, yes, I can see your justification for abominating yourself and not God.

RA, you appear to have a bright future in politics or with the national media - you have quite the knack for spinning my words into something away from the intentional meaning.

If you are actually struggling with homosexuality, I hope you see that it doesn't please God.

If you are not struggling with homosexuality, but pride yourself on being open-minded, remember to not be so open minded that your brains fall out.

I hope you find whatever it is you are looking for...
