Did that get your attention?
In the past days, the blogosphere has been abuzz with people questioning Ergun Caner's past, James White's credentials and Tom Ascol's motives.
GOOD GRAVY, PEOPLE!
I thought we were all on the same team.
I have only had the privilege of meeting one of the men mentioned. I enjoyed our conversation. I have not yet had the privilege of meeting the other two men mentioned. I am sure I would like to get to know them, too.
What I am very concerned about is the way in which supposedly "Christian" blogs writers are blasting one or all of them with no regard to any one of them being brothers in the Lord!
What was it Jesus said, oh yea, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
HELLLLLOOOOOOO
Jesus also said, "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35
The world is watching. I don't think they are benefiting from what they are seeing.
(I refuse to link to blog posts that I feel are in grievous error, but you can do a Google search and see for yourself.)
ADDED LATER: And you should be ashamed of yourselves for writing some of the junk you guys have written about these men. Take down your yellow-journalistic posts immediately!

So, Rick, how do we handle this?
What do we do about this? Okay, I know the standard answer of "let's pray about it..."
But what else? How do we put a stop to this nonsense?
Steve, I don't know. I do know that that it is nearly impossible to reason with some of those whom have posted this junk. Some of these people refuse to listen because they are hard-hearted and know they are right and everyone else is wrong. Some will undoubtedly say that they are doing the "biblical" thing of exposing wolves in sheep's clothing. They'll use any excuse to slander and puff themselves up.
It is sickening!
I guess the first step is to protest that people are doing this and trust that God will deal with them to do the right thing.
Failing that, I guess we start making comments on the offending blogs asking them to cease their vendettas.
I'm open to suggestions.
This kind of thing used to be handled in face-to-face meetings or at least over a conference call, but the internet has opened the lid on Pandora's box and the true nature of people are reflected in a brighter, broader light. The other unfortunate outcome of this is that people will see that we are still willing to sling mud, kick the fallen and shoot our wounded without compassion or the love that Christ prayed that we would have for one another in John 17.
Martin,
God gets no glory from things like this. We should be ashamed!
Rick & Steve: Sorry guys. I have no clue who those guys are so maybe I am the fortunate one? Viciousness though needs to disappear.
Bill, be glad. It is an SBC thing. Really really bad stuff.

You can thank the likes of Mac Brunson, Steve Gaines, Paige Patterson, etc who have bullied there way into the SBC and have insisted things go their way and the rest of you can leave. Without them these blogs wouldn't even exist.
